Yep, the GNU GPL license is sort of a pain, but there are a couple good reasons for having it.

First, it is likely that the Sandbox will be included with WP 2.3. And it is possible that thw winning designs might also be included. So all the licenses of the designs would have to mesh with WP’s.

And the same goes for the stand-alone Sandbox and its license.

That’s great…. Sandbox is really nice theme.

couple of notes:
- it looks like you’ve struck out the wrong list of prizes.
- having released a GPL theme for the failed competition last year, i can say that it’s very rare for people to remove a theme credit. once the competition is over, you can bundle your design as a theme, and include a notice in the footer.

also, it’s a common misconception that there is no provision for attribution in GPL software. punBB and phpnuke both use copyright notices in the footer, which the GPL specifically forbids removing (the GPL hinges on copyright).

I’m thinking to participate but I’m not designer. I’m not that familiar with Photoshop, IconCreator or etc… I know about CSS but I’m not very good at designing….
