Getting an error on the VS2k8 Tools:

    1. Visual Studio 2008 RTM is not installed.
    2. The Web Authoring feature of Visual Studio is not installed.
    3. A previous version of the Silverlight Runtime is installed.
    4. A previous version of the Silverlight SDK is installed.
    5. The Visual Studio Update KB949325 is installed.
    6. A previous version of Silverlight Tools is installed.

None of those are true as far as I can tell, I just uninstalled everything (except VS2k8)and then installed fresh…

    Anyone else experience this?

    Hi Paul,

Did you install SL2 Beta SDK before installing VS2k8Tools ?

“4. A previous version of the Silverlight SDK is installed.”
it includes Silverlight 2 Beta SDK ! uninstall it, VS2K8Tools will install SL2 Beta SDK for you
    Hope this helps.

    Dear Michael :)

Did you try ADO.NET Data Service with Silverlight 2 ? I’m trying to add Microsoft.Data.WebClient Reference but I get the following error:
“You can’t not add a reference to Microsoft.Data.WebClient.dll as it was not built against the Silverlight runtime. Silverlight projects will only work with silverlight assemblies.”

Do you have an idea how to consume ADO.Net Data Service with SL2 Beta 1 ?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Paul,

First, you have to make sure that you don’t have those installers installed in your machine.

If you are sure about that, you can extract silverlight_chainer.exe by using WinRAR. And Find the exe named “VS_SilverlightTools_Beta1_Setup.exe” under the extracted folder and run that exe..

    Hi desopedr,

Not yet, man. I have been busy with a lot of things lately.. Normally, I used to do Silverlight in my spare time. but now, My manager wants me to learn Workflow Foundation for company.. so, I have too many problems in managing my time..:( Anyway, I will try and will let you know as soon as possible.

Ok, uninstalling the SDK fixed the problem; I guess I didn’t realize that was the “previous version” given that it was the same version. . . silly me. :)

Yes. I found that solution too after spending 3 hours doing installing/uninstalling.. :) One of my friend is also facing that problem…

    Hi desopedr,

Microsoft.Data.WebClient.dll (ADO.NET Data Service for Silverlight) is not compatible with Silverlight 2. The next version will be released before end of April. so, we have to wait for a while..
